TEAM CLIMATE CONSCIOUS

Meet our eco food warriors! Since February, our team of super-talented, food-obsessed chefs have been redefining sustainable eating, serving up over 60 delicious and nutritious dishes across 6 key locations.

Team Climate Conscious set a bold challenge: create delicious dishes under 500g of CO2 emissions. Considering a plate of lasagne emits over 4kg of CO2, it wasn’t an easy task. But they did it and have dished up 300 climate-conscious dishes daily and cut 10,500kg of carbon emissions in under six months. 

Despite reduced meat portions, their creativity and dedication have kept sales high and our customers truly delighted! Meeting weekly to spark innovation the team have rocketed the journey to carbon labelling, hosted sustainable nutrition pop-ups to educate our customers, and launched a hugely successful Earth Week event at one of our largest locations, Regeneron in Ireland. All this, plus extensive training in their own time! 

In this short period, the team has transformed menus and inspired a shift toward sustainable eating. They are truly leading the way in the hospitality industry by setting a new benchmark and making a difference for our planet, customers, and business.

TEAM PROJECT KNEAD

Last year, the Project Knead team ignited a flour-fuelled food campaign revolution at BaxterStorey. Their mission? Get our teams baking again and source flour locally. We quickly became obsessed with fresh bread, one loaf at a time – starting with focaccia, pinch-back loaf and soda bread! 

What started as training for 223 bakers exploded into a movement with over 700 enthusiasts across 40 locations, boosting regional flour sales by 100%! This campaign isn’t just about baking – it’s about kneading community, creativity and sustainability together. By partnering with local flour mills and creating a collaborative culture, the team has delighted our customers’ palates with freshly made bread, making shop-bought alternatives toast!

The campaign has rippled through our Chef Academy Level 4 and 5, Obsessed Live sessions and even garnered media recognition for its impact. Our Project Knead heroes have truly transformed our approach to food, proving with innovation, passion and collaboration, we can create an inedible mark on our food strategy and industry.

TEAM RISE

This year, our powerhouse team members in RISE cooked up a storm by spearheading equitable and increased maternity, adoption, and surrogacy pay. They challenged the status quo, passionately advocating for a more inclusive approach to our benefits package at BaxterStorey – and they nailed it!

They’ve also run chef-led wellbeing workshops across the UK, creating a strong community of passionate individuals who role-model open, vulnerable conversations to enhance inclusion. Their impact shines through their incredible work during International Women’s Day (IWD) over the last two years, support for World Menopause Day, and the rollout of new menopause resources from our partnership with Henpicked.

Recognised as industry gamechangers, they’re driving the development of an inclusive kitchen culture for everyone. 

And they achieved all of this beyond their day jobs, relentlessly committed to changing the game and turning up the heat on inclusivity.
